The Jabiru is an Australian type
certified production composite aircraft used by flight schools,
bush pilots and recreational pilots throughout Australia. It
has proved itself to be strong and reliable operating in some
harsh conditions.
Careful use of modern composite techniques has resulted in a
strong, sleek and curvaceous structure that is aerodynamic and light.
The aircraft is designed around the pilot and passenger, being
spacious and comfortable for touring. All controls fall easily
to hand and include a centrally mounted control column, which
houses the single control stick, brake
and trim lever.
Jabiru have designed and certified their own
aero engine for use in other aircraft types as well as the
Jabiru. Being aircraft designers, they appreciate their own
requirements of a power plant that have led them to design a
new generation of aircraft engines. The Jabiru engine has high
power to weight ratio, is air cooled, direct drive, quiet
(62db), compact, horizontally opposed, simple to install and
economical at 13 litres per hour. The success of the production
Jabiru, prompted requests for a (homebuilt) kit version from
around the world. Production and kit aircraft components are
built alongside each other, there is no discrimination between
them - making the Jabiru kit unique as it is manufactured under
stringent CAA Quality Procedures and Inspections. |
